Hi, Iām Miguelina Pierre-Louis
Growing up in Haiti, pikliz was more than just something we ate, it was a family affair.
My mom would pick out the freshest ingredients, I would help clean and prepare everything, and my dad would bring it all together, making and selling our pikliz. It was a process that brought us closer and created something we were proud to share.
When I went to college, I found myself missing home-cooked meals. I started making Haitian dishes for my roommates and friends, inviting them over to share food, laughter, and a taste of home.
Later, after moving from New York to Dallas, I began bringing pikliz to potlucks and gatherings. It quickly became a favorite, and over time, I saw how Haitian food could bring people together bridging cultures and turning strangers into zanmi (friends).
Zanmi was created to carry on that tradition, sharing bold, authentic Haitian flavors made with care, connection, and community.
